D591
Dinky 591 AEC Tanker. Scarce "Shell Chemicals Limited" issue. Very near mint/boxed. From a large stunning diverse collection with many items in old shop stock condition.
Notes
Issued made between 1952-54 only, before it was re-numbered. This eye-catching commercial truck has a bright red and yellow finish. Not an easy find in this condition with perfect “SHELL CHEMICALS LIMITED” lettering on both sides.
Presents nicely with a perfect “SHELL” label at the rear as well as the 20mph sticker:
Bright baseplate. Original grey tyres (two have a little flat spot). Few minor marks to the paint finish only.
The (U.S. export) powder blue box with a paper label is clean and bright with two paper labels (one over stuck .The ’top ’ one has a tiny edge nibble. Near complete deep red Hudson Dobson (U.S export label). Shopkeeper has written the later numbering at one short lid end ,so we deduce that this example was issued right at the end of the 591 numbering. Period shop label at both short lid ends. Minor wear besides. B
