Notes

From one of the largest, private collections we have ever seen, with many items bought new at the time and stored away until now. Taken as a whole, the collection provides an exciting, kaleidoscopic snapshot of popular diecast toys issued during the 1960?s -1970?s.

A very detailed and pleasing item from Corgi as part of their Corgi Comics range, in all original and complete condition.(1969-72). This is the slightly rarer version with white wheels. It has all the moving figures of Popeye, Olive Oyl, Swee’Pea, Bluto and Wimpey, with the original little card packing piece still in situ. It works perfectly – as you push the model along the figures of Bluto and Wimpey go up and down whilst Popeye moves from side to side as he scans the horizon, and Olive Oyl sways from side to side as she drives along! A delightful item which has remained completely untouched – complete with its cans of spinach and paper labels still attached! Little Swee’Pea is safely stowed in the life boat, which can be dropped down – both plastic attachments are absolutely fine on this example. The labels are complete (minor age transparency), and both jewelled headlights are present. The chimney is protected so the chrome finish is completely unrubbed.

A superb, completely unused example, taken out of its box for the very first time to take these pictures.
If one really wanted to fault it, you could note a mere dot at an exposed edge.
The cellophane-fronted window box looks so fresh and bright with strong colours.
Lovely colour scene on box reverse.

Very minor grubbiness on the top surface. The original cellophane has a little storage crumple which has resulted in a small split. Three polystyrene packing pieces are still in place. Pristine. Crisp clean and fresh Corgi Club Membership Form. Little original white card packing piece which fits over the chimney.
The inner card display piece is crisp, clean and bright. Tiny crumple where the card packing piece has come into contact with the top cut-out section.

This model is an outstanding display piece! A firm Corgi favourite and one of the best examples we have seen.
Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face – every time!
