C261
Corgi 261 James Bond's Aston Martin D.B.5. Very near mint/boxed. Early issue with shaded box detail and additional Promotional Leaflet. Exceptional. The latest instalment from The impeccable Collection in The Netherlands.
Notes
Barely handled and extremely well looked after, this example quite takes your breath away! We are especially delighted to offer one of the most popular Corgi models ever, issued between 1965-69.
The James Bond Aston Martin is in all original condition with none of the reproduction accessories, rife with this issue.
The car is fully functioning, complete with both figures. It has a lustrous bright yellow-gold finish – an especially attractive example, and obviously unused.
A small (probably factory assembly) mark to the paint finish behind the passenger door and a few tiny negligible dots besides. Fortunately, this model does not have the almost obligatory chip on the roof and neither does the roof gape slightly open when closed!
The plinth on which the model sits is in pristine condition – with very vivid colours.
The Instruction Packet has been opened (tiny tear) and inside there are the all important Secret Instructions which detail the retractable machine guns, opening roof and ejector seat, rear bullet screen and telescopic over-riders.
All have been tested and work perfectly! The packet also contains the unapplied 007 badge, and the spare villain.
Complete with the additional Promotional Leaflet only included with the earliest issues.
The early style outer box is most impressive with very vivid deep colours and a lovely silky feel to the barely handled card. Note the shading detail around the lettering ASTON MARTIN DB5 on the box face (later examples would not have this) as well as the thick black border around the JAMES BOND’S lettering, too.
Just a little fleck of surface loss at an end flap (very minor), otherwise really difficult to fault.
All in all, this is one of the nicest examples we have seen – and of course, all original and authentic throughout.
A piece of Corgi history, a sound investment, and a nostalgic treat which is hard to resist!
