D161
Dinky 40J/161 Austin Somerset Saloon. Rare DEEP BLUE issue. Excellent/boxed, with correct colour spot. From The Reference Collection.
Notes
The first we have offered for sale in along time, this is a very scarce Austin Somerset model finished in a distinctive deep blue with lighter blue ridged wheels, smooth tyres.
Fine original silver detailing at radiator, bumpers and headlights.
Shiny base has minor wear. Original tyres have no flat spots.
An honest example with a chip on the roof and a several little marks besides. Some rubbing at the body lines.
The box bears both the older numbering 40 J and the new numbering 161 ( the change-over occurring in 1954). Correct colour spot at the end flaps. A little age grubbiness and a very small start of an end flap tear. Period pencilled price at an end flap.
A very difficult colour variation to find.
