We are very pleased to have for sale a collection of South African Dinky models from a lifelong Dinky collector who has compiled an extensive, high quality diecast collection over decades.

Hard to find in any condition and certainly never in multiples – we are delighted to have for sale 13 boxed South African Dinky models! Unfinished models were exported to South Africa from 1966. They were sent as castings and painted and assembled there, largely as a way of getting around the laws prohibiting export of finished goods to South Africa at this time. All housed in Dinky boxes with some Afrikaans text and of course most importantly the Arthur E.Harris print on the box.

Finished in vivid turquoise with a bright red interior, suspension on spun wheels at the rear, the steering front spun wheels are fitted into a retaining slot in the baseplate and therefore do not have suspension. South African rivets, and as-new fine tread tyres.
In excellent plus, original condition:

Few little edge marks and some smaller dots besides. Bright baseplate has a few tarnished spots.

The correct Arthur E. Harris Dinky box is clean and brightly-coloured with quite a crisp feel. Note the print error on the on box underside, ‘MADE ENGLAND’ instead of Made in England. The flaps at one end have been re-attached now. The other end flaps are fine, although one has a tear. Little creasing.
