D501
Dinky 501 Foden Diesel 8-Wheel Wagon. Excellent/boxed. 1st type in mid-blue & black, silver flash. 1947-48. Scarce! From the large private European Collection.
Notes
An early classic Foden model – and a difficult find in this mid-blue finish with a black chassis and silver flash. An early issue, so correct without a tow hook or tank slits on the underside and correctly presented in the first buff box with a paper label. Such a vibrant and distinctive colour, this Foden presents well, especially with those early herringbone tyres!
20mph sign in place on a rear wheel arch.
Bright baseplate.
Light peppering of little marks and closest scrutiny reveals a little well-matched re-touching.
The early buff card box has a delightfully vivid and complete paper label.
Note the inital ‘B’ stamped at the lid side which denotes blue and so the correct box for this model (not a later swap).
Lid has little wear ( certainly no more than commensurate with age). Box base has heavier scuffing at edges with rusty staples.
